Frenchmans is the ultimate romantic get-away for the foodie in you. You can dine at the Clubhouse for breakfast and dinner, or you can cook in your tastefully decorated suite which is equipped with a state-of-the-art kitchen. Everyone I spoke with simply raved about the Clubhouse restaurant; I can personally attest that they feature the best breakfast on the island. We adored the homemade granola and yogurt and their coconut french toast.  They also serve up outstanding cocktails and a delicious dinner experience.

And let’s not forget Karen, easily the best bartender on the island – she makes the best Pain Killer in town, a local favorite made with rum, a mix of fresh fruit juices, and coconut milk topped with shaved nutmeg. (Be sure to ask her about her specialty cocktail… the Ambush!)

The Clubhouse is run by the talented Chef Paul Mason who presents a contemporary menu with seasonal, fresh, local ingredients. We started our two-course dinner with two appetizers: the first, escargot served in-between mini puff pastries floating on a pool of luscious Pernod-based cream sauce. The second appetizer was a local Pork Shu Mai –  Japanese style steamed wontons filled with tasty pork served with a tantalizing tamarind dipping sauce. For entrees we shared a Smoked Pork Loin in a creamy mustard sauce served with sauteed apples, red cabbage, and scalloped potatoes. Our second main course was an exquisite palette pleasing Piña Colada Drunken Duckling – grilled duck breast served with the thigh braised in a pineapple, coconut and rum demi-glace. You get the picture right? The food is awesome!
