Falling in Love with Woodstock NY

Falling in Love with Woodstock NY

Looking for a romantic weekend getaway? How about Woodstock NY? Yes, its a bit bohemian and quirky — but then again perhaps that’s exactly what you’re looking for? A town filled with healing crystals, yoga classes, tie-dye shirts and a fashion flair long forgotten to most, Woodstock is best know for that 1969 music festival that boasts the town’s name but never happened at this location. But happily, tourist flock to Woodstock for more then music nostalgia. Many look to escape  the hectic pace of city life. Others come to explore the world-class Hudson Valley culinary scene or a weekend of activities ranging from hiking, biking, motorcycling and swimming. Whatever your reason – a weekend in this town of “peace…love…and understanding” can be a wonderful romantic rendezvous for two.

Woodstock is filled with outstanding restaurants like The Bear Cafe, Cucina and The Red Onion. There are wonderful options for breakfast and lunch at Oriole 9Joshuas, Sunfrost and Bread Alone; and there are unique stores like The Little Apple, The General Store, Clouds, Woodstock Candle and more. Weekends on the village green include an array of activities that keep the spirit of the 60’s alive including music and protests; and every Sunday you can join this town’s vibrant drumming circle.

Here is a quick look at Woodstock NY.  If you love small towns with a creative flair – a town that feels like it hasn’t changed in 40 years (mostly in a good way); a town with excellent chefs, local food and restaurants; and a town that is surrounded by glorious mountains, waterfalls and swimming holes, not to mention real estate with views of God’s kingdom (the Hudson Valley) – then pack the car and start driving. Here are some things to do in this charming town:
