It’s barely been a year since we met, and today Remy and I are driving out to Connecticut for Christmas dinner with his parents. Aside from a disastrous 4th of July barbecue back in college, I’ve never spent a holiday with a boyfriend’s family before. I’m amazed by how completely natural it feels now.
This morning marks the start of our Twelve Days of Christmas experiment, too. We’re both such suckers for the holiday season that we decided to stretch out our gift exchange until January 5th, just like the old carol (but with substantially less birds (I hope).
Remy says he’s saving something for the last night that I couldn’t possibly top. I said we’d see about that.
In honor of our holiday pilgrimage to Remy’s childhood home, tonight I’m giving him these custom map cufflinks from Uncommon Goods. I had them made with a map of the Connecticut neighborhood where he grew up. They’re fun yet sophisticated and totally work-wearable, and I think he’ll love the personalized touch.
